Good Faith Estimate
Your right to understand the expected cost of your care.
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your health care is expected to cost if you do not have insurance or are not using insurance to pay for your care.
Your Right to a
Good Faith Estimate
If you do not have health insurance, or if you have insurance but are not using it to pay for therapy, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected charges for your care.
You can ask Center Within Therapy for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. You can ask Center Within Therapy for a Good Faith Estimate at any time, even if you haven't scheduled a service. If you do schedule a session, you're entitled to receive your estimate before that appointment — generally within 1 business day of scheduling if it's 3–9 business days away, or within 3 business days if it's 10 or more business days away.
The estimate is based on the information known at the time it is prepared and includes the costs that can reasonably be expected for your care.
What Your Estimate Means
It is an estimate, not a contract.
A Good Faith Estimate is an estimate of the expected cost of your care. It does not require you to receive a particular number of therapy sessions or commit to a specific course of treatment.
Therapy is individualized.
The frequency and duration of therapy vary from person to person. Decisions about your care are made collaboratively based on your needs, treatment goals, progress, and preferences. You may choose to discontinue therapy at any time.
Your estimate may change.
If your treatment needs or the services reasonably expected to be provided change, you may receive an updated Good Faith Estimate.
If Your Bill Is Higher
Than Your Estimate
If you receive a bill from a provider that is at least $400 more than the amount listed on the Good Faith Estimate from that provider, you may be eligible to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
Keep a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate so you can compare it with any bills you receive.
You must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days of the date on the bill that's higher than your estimate.
